This comic shows how hated a teacher can be. In this case, the teacher might be so mean that the students want to throw spit was at her. This might also mean that the students are extremely bad. So bad that even the best teachers are unable to teach them. Also, the students have developed a sense of sarcasm , saying that they miss her. However, I think the "miss" actually means that the student missed the last shot.
I agree with what you say. Sometimes, the teacher can be so hated that the student would do things that will make the teacher sad. When that happen, the students would be happy.
